The Irish Times has awarded (edit:) Featured Paul Walsh, (the Irish Opportunist), in “The Best Blog Of The Week” for his Personal Blog.

Update: I just read on Paul’s blog that ” It was featured in Blogspot of the week, which I’m just as happy with.” Even so, the rest of my post stands.

I’ve been a regular reader of Paul’s personal and business blogs for many months and I’m delighted to see him get recognition for something he does very well.

Personally, I’d prefer to be able to find reasons to get away from my monitor, but I still see it as progress.
I wonder it there is any chance I’ll be able to see Top Gear on it?

In interesting story from Wired.com about Reddit.

“The social news site Reddit has announced a new feature which will allow users to create their own personalized “reddits.” For now the new features are part of a closed beta, though Reddit says that will only last a week or so. ”

At the moment, Facebook is being use as a Social Network and a Business Network, but with a growing list of annoying notifications, how long will it last as either of them?

If you want to use Facebook as a Social Network or a Business Network, how much of the “someone you don’t know” has asked you to add the “bug the crap out of me” application, can we take?

Or “someone you don’t know” has added you as a friend …. you click the notification and there is nothing there to indicate how you know this person and why you should add them.

I think the Facebook is at risk of loosing more active members from these two annoyances, than they will be from adding more advertising.

Facebook, we all know where the applications are, and if I want to add one I will.

I also think that people that ask to be added as friends should have to fill out some details about who they are and how I’m connected to them, before they add me as a friend.

Don’t get me wrong, I do like Facebook, it’s by far the best out there at the moment, but I simply don’t want to waste time in there having to click ignore in my notifications.
